Doggy Dinner Recipe For Your Dog!

Homemade Doggy Dinners has been working hard on a recipe book along with our original products and we'd love to share a recipe you and your friends can do while BBQing for yourselves! With summer coming and lots of BBQ's on the horizon, wouldn't it be a fun activity to cook for yourselves and also make your Dog something special?
Below is Homemade Doggy Dinners favorite summertime meal for your dog:

Mini Slider Burgers

1 Pita, cut into fours
½ lb of ground turkey, beef or lamb
1 tablespoons of finely diced carrot
1 tablespoons of finely diced zucchini
A pinch of parsley

In a large bowl mix ground meat, parsley and veggies together and form into 4 small burgers. Grill burgers for 5-7 min on each side, if you use ground turkey you want to make sure the meat is fully cooked with no pink.

Place meat patties inside pita, you can chop it up into pieces for smaller dogs.
Let burgers cool to a warm temperature; do not give it to your dog hot off the grill.

Good Doggy Day Care!

A good Doggy Day Care is hard to find, but here are a few great places Homemade Doggy Dinners suggests in Orange County and Los Angeles:

Orange County:
Wags and Wigles - Wags and Wiggles - First day is Free! The facility is similar to a dog park. The dogs can play freely and are always monitored. They have indoor and outdoor play areas with a great staff!
My Doggies Daycare - This daycare was voted Best Dog Daycare in the Orange County Register.

Los Angeles:
Chateau Marmutt - one of my favorites and one where my little one went too when living in LA. Both big and small dogs are allowed and they actually have separate play areas.

LA Dogworks - Another fantastic option in the Los Angeles area. This place is a new LA haute for dogs with their super modern and contemporary environment, all dogs will thrive.

When looking for a place for your dog, Homemade Doggy Dinners suggests you ask your friends. It is always better to get opinions of people you know vs. just going to the place right around the corner - although that may be the place they suggest!

I found a great review from someone on YELP:
I was thinking long and hard on what kind of star power I should give the Irvine Farmers Market. I hovered over the four star rating..but thought.. "This place is the best FM I've personally ever been to during my FM crusade!" So, I think Irvine deserves all 5 stars and will hopefully keep up to the hype I'm about to give them.

Ingredients To Look For When Purchasing Dog Food!

We at, Homemade Doggy Dinners, pride ourselves on using the best ingredients only from the USA. However, not every dog food out there does the same thing. Below is a short list of what you should look for when purchasing dog food if you are crazy enough not to order Homemade Doggy Dinners ;-)

1) The #1 ingredient needs to be a true meat source, not a by-product or meat meal. It should read Chicken, Lamb or Beef etc.
2) Look for ingredients from the USA, not China.
3) Look for natural preservatives or no preservatives is the best option.

"What do cancer, kidney disease, pancreatic disease, allergies, hair loss, blindness and immunodeficiency have in common? Preservatives used in dog food have been blamed for causing every one of these problems" - Written by Dr. Lisa Freeman, DVM
If you are interested in the full article from the above quote, please to go: Dog Food Preservatives and you can also contact us at: Homemade Doggy Dinners for any questions or concerns.

Importance of Doggy Massage

Homemade Doggy Dinners recommends other healthy measures besides Dog Food to dog owners. Doggy Massage is a very important element to your dog's health.
Just like human beings, dogs have muscles that can get strained due to a variety of reasons. Some of the reasons for muscle failure in dogs are:

• Imperceptible structural imbalances
• Injuries, such as those incurred when running
• A period of inactivity, which may be as a result of injury, illness, or old age among others
• Stiffness from complications like arthritis
Doggy Massage will enhance your dog's life and help the above issues your dog may be suffering. For more information on this subject go to: Doggy Massage or contact us at Homemade Doggy Dinners.

Doggy Paradise

Here at Homemade Doggy Dinners, we not only promote healthy Dog food, but we believe a dog is the happiest when he gets exercise along with his healthy food. One place we generally like taking our dogs for their exercise is Dog Beach in Huntington Beach, CA.
Dog Beach is located on Pacific Coast Highway between 21st St. and Seapoint St. in the beautiful city of Huntington Beach (about 10 miles from Disneyland in Anaheim). One mile of golden sands and the exciting Pacific Ocean have made Dog Beach a paradise for dogs where they can frolic in the water and taste a sense of freedom--rarely found elsewhere.
If you aren't a local Southern Californian, our recommendation is to look up a place, such as a dog park, where your dog has space to run around.

If you are interested in other local locations, please contact us at Homemade Doggy Dinners.

Transitioning Your Dog Food from Commercial to Homemade Doggy Dinners!

I know there are many people out there who are interested in trying out Homemade Doggy Dinners, but are afraid of doing so because they don't want their dog to get sick or they have tried changing their food before and it upset their Stomachs. Below is how we suggest you transition your dogs commercial brand dog food to Homemade Doggy Dinners.

Tips below:

Because most dogs eat kibble, they haven't been exposed to many foods, their digestive systems need time to adjust to new diets...with the switch from kibble to a home-prepared diet, there is dramatic change in texture and digestibility of the food. We suggest slowly introduce Doggy Dinners into your dog's current food, over 7-8 days. Most Dogs have sensitive stomachs and must adjust to a change in diet.

If you have any questions, please contact us at: Homemade Doggy Dinners

CAPS-Companion Animal Protection Society

Homemade Doggy Dinners likes to spread the word about healthy living for dogs and our company advocates adopting and rescuing dogs. We rescued our little Maltipoo at the Pet Expo last April and know that our lives wouldn't be the same without our new addition. We found a great non-profit organization that is dedicated exclusively to protecting companion animals from cruelty in pet shops and puppy mills. CAPS actively addresses the abuse and suffering of pet shop and puppy mill dogs through investigations, education, media relations, legislative involvement, puppy mill dog rescues, consumer assistance and pet industry employee relations. If you are interested in learning more, you can visit CAPS

Why Homemade Dog Food?

Does anyone wonder why there was a Pet food Recall? One of the reasons behind the pet food recall was that many dogs lives around the country were claimed from eating contaminated commerical dog food and in a recent article, a law professor states
Little change is anticipated ( in the dog food industry) after the current onslaught of dog food recall news and attention subsides. The probable reason for this conclusion is that there are insufficient financial resources and manpower to effectively monitor and regulate the dog food industry. You can’t trust the dog food industry to watch out for your dog and the government is not your answer either.

With these sort of statements, we realize the government does not have pet owners in mind. It is a common misconception that your dog can not maintain a healthy lifestyle unless he is fed commerical dog food. Nothing could be further from the truth. Homemade Dog food is one of the best ways to guarantee your dog a healthy and safe diet.

New Testimonial

Yesterday we received a great phone call from a new customer, below is her testimonial.
"I purchased your frozen Doggy Dinners for my 2 doggies and they just LOVE IT. LOVE IT. I wanted to give you my good review. My older dog usually backs away from her food, like it is poison. She, now runs to her bowl and gobbles her Doggy Dinners up, she even looks forward to mealtime. “
Thank you so much Homemade Doggy Dinners. Susan (Newport Beach, CA)

Interesting Article!

I found a great article from the Examiner.com.
Believe it or not, the quality of food that you feed your dog will drastically affect his health and longevity. Many commercial dog foods, those with the great ads that make you think you are doing something great for your dog, are actually filled with byproducts and corn fillers that your dog can't digest.
